Information and Communication regime has brought effective and rapid changes in the sphere of overall development. It has now been able to transform the universe into a "Global Village". There is an ample opportunity of maximum benefits out of prudent utilization of physical and human resources by the application of diverse nature of information technologies.

There is inevitable attachment of information and communication linkages in every organizations operational activities. Information plays a vital role in Coordination, control and decision-making process. It acts as a glue and helps in the wearing of organizational activities i.e. planning, executing, monitoring and evaluation. Its crucial role lies in the facilitation of exchanging ideas, thoughts etc, internally and externally. Viewing its importance as mentioned, the government in the year 2057 B.S. decided to unite the then three ministries. Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Supplies, into one single Ministry as Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and creating a separate section " Information Collection & Dissemination" within the ministry's organogram. As per organizational feature, six divisions as mentioned below have been created under the secretary, the chief administrative authority of the ministry.

Divisions:

  • Supplies and Governmental Industries

  • Administration, Foreign Investment and Industrial Promotion

  • World Trade Organization

  • Export Promotion Trade and Transit

  • Planning and Information Management

  • Technology and Environment

Realizing the importance of Planning and Information Management Division, the Division is loaded with the additional responsibility, little bit different to that of the then status, to cover the information regime.
